I guess for most people Jude Law is a familiar name although they may not necessarily know that much of his acting background.
Jude was born at the very end of 1972 in London. He caught the acting bug at the tender age of twelve and went on to join a national theatre group from that age. He left school at seventeen so he could pursue acting full time and quickly got a part in a UK soap called families.
Many people forget Jude has an impressive stage background as well as his roles in some major movies, one of his early parts saw him be nominated for an Olivier award.
He is also no stranger to Broadway having starred with Kathleen Turner in Indiscretions in which he appeared full frontal nude to the delight of audiences. He was again recognised with a Tony nomination and was awarded the Theatre World Award for best actor.
Law has had many film acting roles but he burst in to main stream consciousness starring alongside Matt Damon in The talented Mr Ripley. Jude got critical acclaim for the role as well as being part of a box office hit.
He has starred in many other main stream films including enemy at the gates which he received a best acting award in Europe. Other big films like road to Perdition and Cold Mountain soon followed, He was nominated for an Oscar for his role in Cold Mountain. Jude became one of the most sought after actors in Hollywood and a stream of offers and parts followed including a role in The Aviator as Errol Flynn.
Despite these huge successes Jude continues to look for less commercial projects that will stretch him professionally, he’s currently looking at a role to do with a person who teaches others how to make money online . This includes going back to his roots and doing Theatre work. It’s this passion that sees him returning to Broadway with Hamlet.
